Hello, I am Ines
I am a project manager. A parent. An expat living in Lisbon, Portugal.
A few years ago, I moved here with my family. What began as a temporary contract gradually became a new chapter of life abroad.
How It Started
Moving to Portugal wasn’t part of the long-range plan. As with many expat relocations, it started as a job opportunity and soon grew into something much more substantial.
The initial months were demanding — unfamiliar systems, routines, and expectations. Daily chores seemed more complex than expected.
The Adjustment Period
There was culture shock, doubt, and a lot of learning on the job. Yet gradually routines settled in. We found places that suited us, connected with other families, and began creating something that felt steady.
Why I Built MarigoldStudio
Most online sources offered corporate relocation guidance or shallow tourism content. What was lacking was an honest, everyday family viewpoint.
This site aims to bridge that gap — practical guidance drawn from real life in Portugal.
What This Site Is (And Isn't)
This site is about:
- Real-world experiences from living in Portugal
- Centered on family life and daily realities
- Updated whenever a genuine change occurs
This site is not:
- An official tourism authority resource
- A platform for sponsored reviews
- Just another generic travel blog
Looking Ahead
Our time in Portugal continues, and so does the learning journey. As long as the information remains useful, I’ll keep documenting what we discover.
If you have questions about family life in Lisbon or anywhere in Portugal, please don't hesitate to contact me.
Best regards,
Ines
